Kurre and Ketunmarja

Extending Aino-Maija Metsola’s tales from the forest, the Kurre pattern presents a lively brood of squirrels collecting and hiding nuts – squirrels were a common sight in the designer’s childhood yard. The initial artwork was created on paper using a brush and ink.

The Ketunmarja depicts a whimsical, mysterious Nordic twilight woodland scene. It features curious foxes that have crept into a garden at dusk, accompanied by little birds resting in the branches of a yew tree amongst juicy berries.
