This Piccolo pattern set includes two tea towels made of a cotton and linen blend and four placemats made of organic cotton canvas. The towels have hanging loops on the long edge and a print text on the side. The placemats have finished edges that are sewn onto the back sides. The fabrics are printed in Helsinki.
The tea towels include 46% recycled cotton and 21% recycled linen. Unbleached fabrics, as well as fabrics containing recycled fibers, have a natural lively color and surface where small different colored areas may appear. There may be differences between products regarding this feature.
The set is packed in the Marimekko Logo pattern box.
In 1953, the very year she joined Marimekko, Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi created Piccolo, a striped fabric pattern painted with vivid brushstrokes. Three years later, the Jokapoika (every boy) shirt made from the fabric appeared in stores and the streets – for good, it seems.
