Heti ensimmäisenä Marimekko-vuotenaan 1953 Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi loi Piccolon, vapain siveltimenvedoin maalatun raitakankaan. Kolme vuotta myöhemmin kauppoihin ja katukuvaan ilmestyi – ilmeisesti pysyvästi – kankaasta tehty paita nimeltään Jokapoika.
In her very first year at Marimekko, 1953, Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi created Piccolo, a striped fabric painted with free brushstrokes. Three years later, a shirt made from the fabric called Jokapoika appeared in stores and on the street – apparently permanently.
