This graceful storage jar is part of the Paauw Blue collection by Heinen Delft Blue. The porcelain jar is available in two different sizes, this being the large version. The jar has a straight cylindrical shape with an elegant lid on top. Around the jar runs a Delft blue decoration, an impressive pattern made of peacock feathers and flowers.
Peacock feathers have always been loved for their beauty, but they also symbolize love and happiness and were often worn as a status symbol, particularly in the old Chinese Empire. For Heinen Delft Blue the peacock has a special meaning. This tableware is at the same time a tribute to our former Delft blue factory that bore the name ‘De Paauw.’ A pottery factory that had existed since 1651 and then produced under the name ‘De Delftse Pauw.’ This factory was one of the few remaining factories that kept the tradition of fully hand-painted Delft blue earthenware.
